Opportunities

Tech Solent

In this "trial format" event, Tech Solent are looking for local Tech Professionals to bring their children (11-16 years old) on Thursday 8 June 17:00-18:30 to listen to local VFX firm, Dark Cosmos, discuss how cool the world of tech really is with their Visual Effects work, what skills and career paths there are in to the Creative Tech sector, and what supporting tech jobs there are around the edges of this brilliant industry.

We are looking to inspire a new generation of technology professionals to set their sights on the local Technology scene, and have the opportunity to ask any questions on how they get into this sort of career. The event will be taking place in Whiteley, PO15 7AJ.

This is a free event. Please book as many tickets as you need for yourself and any children you are bringing so we can gauge numbers correctly.  We will need a parent, carer or guardian to accompany all child attendees at all time.

The maritime industry is vital to global trade and plays a significant role in our economy, with an estimated 90% of world trade carried by sea. Within the UK, the sector supports over 1 million jobs, however women remain underrepresented in many parts of the industry, and in particular in STEM based roles.

To raise the profile of STEM based careers and inspire young females into STEM roles, there is a new set of videos launching in 2023.

QinetiQ has created the first video which gives an insight into the typical day of an Associate Naval Architect based at Haslar.
