3. Project Management
Ex-Bay House student Hannah Douglass shared her experiences of getting into Project Management with BAE Systems on their Graduate Scheme. Many of us don't know what we want to do in life when we leave school, college, or even after we graduate, so her story is particularly reassuring for students who don't yet have everything planned out! We were joined by Bethany Ingham, a former Brune Park student who applied for various apprenticeships in Year 11, and was accepted onto a placement with Airbus. Still only 17 years old, she is already well on the road to a successful career in engineering, and talks to us about the application process and her day to day role as an apprentice. For this very insightful session on non-performing careers in the music industry, we were joined by Cameron Hamilton, Founder and Events Manager of Arclight Promotions, UK Charity Music Event Management, who talked to us about his career to date and different pathways into this competitive industry. This extremely engaging session featured former pupil Abbi Robinson, who talked about her unexpected journey to becoming a social media strategist and copywriter, working with some of the world's top brands. 8. Politics / Civil Service
We were extremely proud to welcome back Matt, a former Bay House pupil who is now a Policy Advisor in the Cabinet Office, working to coordinate foreign and defence policy across government, including the international response to Covid-19. We are so grateful to him sparing some time for us during this critical time, for what proved to be a truly fascinating and dynamic session. The recording can be access here.
Ex-pupil Rushabh Amin, a Junior Portfolio Manager at multi-national company Wells Fargo Asset Management, joined us for a truly enlightening session on the world of careers in Finance, his pathway through school and University, and the different careers available in this sector. 10. Work with Animals
For this lively and very informative session, we were joined by former pupil Tasha Halsey, who talked to us about her role as a Senior Coach with The Dogs Trust, the qualifications and skills you need to succeed in this field, and other career pathways in animal care and welfare. 12. Performing Arts
We were so excited to be joined for this session by James Hume, a former student who is now a successful musical theatre actor, and has played principal roles in the West End and internationally, in shows such as Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera and Mary Poppins. For this brilliant session, we were joined by Laura Jay - a former student who is now a children's nurse at Southampton General Hospital. Laura talked to us about routes into nursing and her life in this extremely challenging, demanding but rewarding job. Her talk can be heard here.
