Year 11 students should look at the Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships, whilst Upper Sixth may like to consider the Higher or Degree Apprenticeships, or the Dyson Institute. Sometimes, the salaries are lower for Degree Apprenticeships, but remember you will not be paying any university fees - these are covered by the employer.

Chef Apprenticeship - Inn By The Sea, Lee-on-the-Solent

As an apprentice Chef at Stonehouse, they will help you to master their menu, with your food being the reason guests keep coming through the doors! You'll thrive off the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced kitchen, with the support of a close-knit team. responsibilities will be:

Shift work including bank holidays, evenings and weekends. Exact shift will be confirmed with a total of 30 hours per week. Expected duration of 15 months, with an annual salary of £11,684.00.

DE&S Defence Munitions Gosport - Craft Apprentice - Ministry of Defence

DM Gosport provides work-based craft apprenticeships in Mechanical Engineering. The first phase of the training schedule will be delivered off-site by their Apprentice Training partner CEMAST,  Fareham which will consist of 46 weeks covering standard Based Apprentice Training requirements. You will learn several different engineering processes including Marking Out, Measuring Instruments, Hand-Fitting, Millin, Turning, Basic Electrical-Electronic Principles and many more. These will be achieved both theoretically and practically. You will be working at a Level 2 Standard. 

The second and third phase will be delivered on site at DM Gosport and its Outstations to gain your practical experience of the Engineering Fitter Standard. Also during this time, you will attend day release to gain the knowledge part of the Engineering Fitter Standard. 

You will be working full-time. The salary during phase one is £23,440, phase 2 is £24,905 and phase 3 is £26,370. You will also get a Civil Service Pension with an average employer contribution of 27%. You can find more information about this here.

Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship - STS Defence Ltd 

STS Defence design, build and integrate cutting-edge technology that enables our armed forces to defend our nation. Whether it's at sea, in the sky or on the ground, they deliver innovative solutions that make a difference. You will be given the chance to experience all the different aspects of their business. 

Your working week will be Monday-Thursday 8:00-16:00, Friday 8:00-13:00 for 42 months. Your starting salary will be £12,890 in the first year if under 18. If over 18 a salary of £17,316-£30,971 with progression.

Higher Apprenticeship Electrical Power Network Engineer - SSE

During the programme you will study towards a Level 4 Apprentice Electrical Power Networks Engineer Qualification. When you're not studying, you'll spend time with the business team to learn essential engineering skills for the Distribution business. This may include working in the field or in the Design/Planning office working alongside experienced SSE crafts people and engineers. You will take on more responsibility in your third year. 

This is a permanent role starting September 2024. Your salary will be Circa £21,795 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finanaces and wellbeing.

Degree Apprentice (Community) - Park Community School

This role offers you the opportunity to study for a Chartered Management Degree (fully funded) at a local university or through distance learning, at the same time as working and gaining valuable experience in a role that makes a real differend to the school and local community. You will have 20% of your working time each week assigned to study, whilst on full pay.

Apprentice Travel Consultant - Hays Travel Ltd, Gosport

Whilst learning about the business and how they operate, you will be provided with ongoing training and support to help develop your customer service and selling skills. You will learn how to adapt to working within a fast paced sales enviroment, gaint ravel product knowledge and develop confidence and flair which will enable you to meet customer's needs. Their in-house experienced learning and development coaches are on hand to give you expert advice, one-to-one support and award-winning training throughout your apprenticeship. You will work towards a Level 3 Travel Consultant Apprenticeship, including Functional Skills in English and Maths, if required.

Engineering Degree Apprentice - Eaton

Apprentice Fire Engineer - Chubb Fire and Security Ltd 

As a Chubb Apprentice Engineer you will work towards a Level 3 Fire Emergency and Security Systems Technician apprenticeship, attend local college on day-release or stay away as required on weekly block-release residential training and you will participate in week-long modules covering theory and practical classroom training. At the end of your apprenticeship you will join one of their field installation and maintenance teams as a fully qualified engineer. 

Your working week will be Monday-Friday 9:00-17:00 with an annual salary of £14,514.93.

Dental Nurse Apprentice - Shiny Smile Ltd 

The role of a dental nurse is to assist the dentist with all clinical aspects within the surgery. This includes but is not exhausted to:

Weapon Engineering Technician Accelerated Apprenticeship - Royal Navy

You will focus on learning how machinery works, repairing equipment, making components, using essential tools and techniques and safety procedures. 

You will take responsibility for the safety of your crewmate, whether that's identifying a potential threat, or ensuring you ship can defend itself. At the end you will be qualified as a Weapon Engineering - Engineering Technician. You will complete 10 weeks of basic naval training, followed by marine engineering training at HMS Sultan.

Personal Trainer Apprenticeship - Royal Navy

You will work alongside likeminded people all committed to making a recognised contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of naval personnel, providing professional exercise and evidence-based lifestyle information as well as taking on vital executive duties in the process. You will promote and deliver fitness, health and wellbeing, lead and manage teams and manage adventurous training. 

On completion you will become eligible to become an Affiliate of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. 

You will start on a salary of £20,4000 working up to £33,000.00. 18 month duration, 40 hours per week with a possible start date of 02/06/24

DAF Vehicle Body Panel Apprenticeship - Adams-Morey Ltd, Portsmouth

Apprentices will be working alongside fully qualified body panel technicians to be fully trained in repairing and replacing damaged panels using approved techniques including gas, electric and plastic welding. This includes by is not exhausted to:

Business Apprentice - Lockheed Martin, Havant

The Product Management Apprentice will be responsible for Project Tasks as assigned. The responsibilities include but are not limited to support the PMO team and customers, be involved in project governance structure and using the Project Management tool.

Desktop Support Apprentice - Lockheed Martin, Havant 

This role provides opportunity to complete a Level 3 Information Communication Technician apprenticeship in conjunction with the apprentice provide Impact Futures.

The duties include but are not limited to assisting with incidents and requests, participate in project work as required and assist with software vulnerability management.

Multimedia Support Apprentice - Lockheed Martin, Havant

The IT function provides UK wide support to all business areas. This role provides opportunity to complete a Level 3 Content Creator course, plan and develop brand multimedia content, opportunity to travel and support their business areas and much more. You will need to have a GCSE or equivalent in English, Maths and IT. You will be offered flexible working with the option to also work a 4 day week depending on business requirements.
