Careers advice and guidance

1:1 Careers Meetings

Our programme of Post-16 and Post-18 meetings with students runs every week throughout the academic year.  Emails are sent to students and parents/carers advising of the date, time and location of the meeting - we ask all students to arrive promptly to maximise the opportunity.

Students wishing to book an urgent appointment with one of our fully qualified and impartial Careers Advisers should email careers@gfmat.org. To learn more about these meetings, and why they are so important, see here.

All students in KS4, and those in the Lower Sixth, will be invited to attend a 1:1 meeting with a professional, fully qualified Careers Adviser. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to discuss anything related to future choices and to receive tailored and impartial guidance.

To find out what happens at these meetings, watch this video.

Students do not need to wait for their scheduled 1:1 meeting before applying for college, university or an apprenticeship.

Support is on offer with Hannah and Julia at Bay House.

Students can apply to more than one course, and more than one college or university. We encourage all students to have a Plan A and Plan B - this is especially important for students looking for an apprenticeship.

KS3 support with GCSE choices

1:1 meetings are available for any student in Year 9 who would like additional support with choosing the subjects to study in Year 10 and 11.

Please see our KS3 information or email to arrange a meeting.
