College Transport Information
Details of the transport options for students travelling to local colleges from the Gosport and Fareham area can be found below. This information was compiled in Summer 2023; please refer to individual college websites for confirmation of current routes and timings.
Travelling by train
If you are considering travelling to college by train, you may like to consider a 16-17 Saver card. Cards costs £30 and allow you to buy train tickets at half price for most journeys - there are no time restrictions or minimum fares. You will need to provide evidence of your age for the application, such as a valid passport, National ID card or driving licence. See 16-17 Saver.
Financial assistance
All colleges will consider applications for financial support for students from low income households. Please see the travel page links for each college to see the support available.
Barton Peveril
Direct BlueStar bus service begins and ends at Stubbington Green, picking up at 7:30am and 9:20am (Mondays only: 9:30am and 11:20am); returning at 3:05pm and 5:05pm.
Direct BlueStar bus service picks up at Fareham train station at 7:35am and 9:25am (Mondays 9:40am and 11:25am); returning at 5:03pm and 4:48pm.
No student parking available onsite.
Parking, and Eastleigh train station, is a 20 min walk from the college, offering services to Fareham and Portsmouth.
Bay House Sixth Form
First Bus routes 9, 9A and X5 pass by Bay House.
20 minute bicycle ride from the Gosport Ferry terminal.
No student parking available onsite. Parking permits are available for a nearby public car park, 2 minute walk.
The Sixth Form is well served by bicycle paths along Stokes Bay seafront, Lee-on-the-Solent seafront, Cherque Way and Broom Way, making it easily accessible by bicycle from Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington.
City of Portsmouth College: Highbury Campus
The campus is a 30 minute walk from Portchester station, and a 12 minute walk from Cosham station.
Buses 2, 3, 23, SD4 and X4 stop near the college, with several connections from The Hard if travelling via the Gosport Ferry.
Student parking available onsite.
Student bus passes are £170-190 per term.
Travel support | City of Portsmouth College
City of Portsmouth College: Sixth Form Campus
The campus is most easily reached via the Gosport Ferry, then taking various combinations of buses available from The Hard/Portsmouth bus station. It takes approximately 35 minutes by bus from the bus station.
Student bus passes are £170-190 per term.
Limited student parking available onsite.
A new bus service which runs from the Cocked Hat at 8:33am and arrives at the campus at 9:25am. This bus service then collects students from the campus at 4:20pm and arrives back at the Cocked Hat at 5:33pm. The bus service also stops in Fareham, Fort Brockhurst, Forton Road, Gosport Ferry and many more.

City of Portsmouth College: North Harbour Campus
The campus is a 30 minute walk from Portchester station and a 30 minute walk from Cosham station.
Buses 9, 9A and the Solent Ranger X4 will go there from Gosport. It takes approx 1 hour and involves changing buses.
Very limited student parking available onsite.
Fareham College
Bishopsfield Road (main campus) is a 5 minute walk from Fareham train station, and 20 minute walk from Fareham bus station.
CEMAST and CETC campuses are located in Lee-on-the-Solent, and are served by a free bus link to the main college site and Fareham train station (students need to show their college ID to board the bus).
Students on a full time course may purchase a discounted bus pass from FirstBus. There is a bus stop adjacent to the campus (annual cost £479).
Student car and motorbike parking available onsite, permit required.
The college is well connected with bicycle paths and there are secure, covered bicycle racks at all locations.
Havant and South Downs College - HSDC (Havant Campus)
The college is an 11 minute walk from Havant train station and a 12 minute walk from Havant bus station.
15 minute train journey from Fareham to Havant train station.
FirstBus SD5 direct bus service leaves Gosport bus station at 7:52am, Elson Church at 8:10am, and Fareham bus station at 8:41am, arriving at college at 9:25am. Return journey leaves college at 4:40pm, arriving at Gosport bus station at 6:02pm.

Havant and South Downs College - HSDC (South Downs Campus)
South Downs campus is not easily walkable from Havant train station.
Stagecoach 37 bus leaves Havant bus station every 15 mins, and takes 9 mins to get to South Downs campus.
FirstBus SD5 direct bus service leaves Gosport bus station at 7:52am, Elson Church at 8:10am, and Fareham bus station at 8:41am, arriving at college at 9:35am. Return journey arrives at Gosport bus station at 6:02pm.

Itchen College
193 dedicated college bus service, with several pick-up points in Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent. Annual cost £450.
193 leaves Fort Brockhurst at 8am, Marine Parade at 8:24am, and Stubbington Green at 8:36am. There are many additional stops along the way in the Gosport area, and the driver must be flagged down. Bus arrives at college at 9:20am and departs at 4:10pm. There is also a lunchtime service both from and to Gosport.

Sholing train station is a 15 minute walk, offering a service to Fareham.
Military Mentors
Military Mentors is based on the Bridgemary School campus in Gosport, with some learning taking place at Fareham College.
15 minute bicycle ride from Bay House and 10 minutes from Brune Park.
Nearest bus route is the Eclipse, with a 9 minute walk from the nearest stop.

Military Prep College
MPC Portsmouth is based within Highbury College, at the Sports Complex.
Highbury College campus is a 30 minute walk from Portchester station, and a 12 minute walk from Cosham station.
Buses 2, 3, 23, SD4 and X4 stop near the college, with several connections from The Hard if travelling via the Gosport Ferry.

Peter Symonds College
5 minute walk from Winchester train station, with regular services to Fareham and Portsmouth stations. Direct trains take approximately 1 hour from Portsmouth and 30 minutes from Fareham.

Sparsholt College
The Gosport bus (operated by Xelabus) leaves the Cocked Hat roundabout at 7:40am, and passes through Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington before arriving at college at 9:15am. The bus arrives back at Gosport at 7pm.
The cost is £855 per year, which can be spread over a series of instalments. Financial assistance may be available for low income households.

St Vincent College
The college is a 19 minute walk from Gosport bus station, and is served by numerous buses including 9, 9A, X5 Solent Rangers, E1 and E2. Bus passes are available for students requiring financial assistance if they live further than 1 mile away.
Student car and moped parking available onsite, secure bicycle storage.
UTC
The college is a 10 minute walk from both Cosham and Hilsea train stations, with services to Portsmouth Harbour and Fareham.
No student car parking available onsite. Student motorbike and moped parking available onsite, and covered bicycle storage.
There is no college bus service but discounts are available on FirstBus and Stagecoach for UTC students.
Numerous direct buses from Portsmouth Harbour stop by the college, including the 3, 20, 21, 23. The journey takes approximately 25 mins.
Cycling from Portsmouth Harbour takes approximately 20 mins but this is along very busy main roads.
